July 5th Sunday Service Canceled
Greetings church family and friends,
As the temperature rises as this week progresses, we have decided to cancel services on Sunday, July 5th.
Pastor Ed, Cheryl Anne Cammann, Sue & Cliff Williams discussed different options for Sunday. We concluded that canceling made the most sense. The excessive heat during the day, and the lack of a cool down at night, will make the building extremely uncomfortable. And, the air quality will be poor, which is dangerous for vulnerable populations.
Therefore, we will celebrate communion on July 12th.
Also, there’s LOTS of work being done in the buildings right now. The biggest project is the improvement of our electrical capability. Our buildings are from three vastly different eras:
1: the sanctuary dates to the 1800’s
2: Squier Hall the 1920’s
3: Davis Hall and the hall connecting the sanctuary & Squier Hall dates to the 1960’s
Our campus is the definition of “this old house.”
We have installed 4 ductless air conditioners in Davis Hall, but the electric service is insufficient to complete the project until we update circuit boards and run wiring. Hopefully by the next heat wave, Davis Hall will be up and running. If so, we will no longer need to think about canceling a service because of heat again. In addition, we are making Davis Hall marketable year round as an event space.
On behalf of the leadership team and Building & Grounds, stay cool & healthy until we see each other on July 12th!
Peace,
Sue Krivenko-Williams
