Marriage

Marriage is a gift God has given to all humankind for the well-being of the entire human family.  Marriage is a civil contract; for Christians, marriage is a covenant through which two people are called to live together before God their lives of discipleship.  In a service of Christian marriage, a lifelong commitment is made by the couple to each other, publicly witnessed and acknowledged by the community of faith.

“Submit yourselves to one another because of your reverence for Christ…” — (Ephesians 5:21)

What if You aren’t a Member of First Presbyterian?

Because of its beautiful, historic location, our church is a very popular place for weddings, even for non-members.  The pastor is happy to minister non-members at such an important event in their lives, if they share our reverence for God, and accept the serious emphasis this church places upon the marriage covenant.
